Don’t take my word for it. Hear it from the room.

Some of them have come every month for two years. One was there for the very first time. Here’s what keeps coming up.

It finally clicks.
“I’ve heard concepts before and tried to understand them. But when I see him do it, things are clicking. I’m like, oh, this is what that meant.”

You learn to make it yours.
“A lot of people focus on the drills. How to make it yours is really hard to teach, and Nickel really teaches that.”

The mental game, not just the moves.
“It’s not just the body and the music, it’s also the mental game. That’s where powerful transformation can happen.”

Every level. Every style.
“You’ve got professional dancers, but also people like me that are just training for fun but want to be good.”

And if it’s your first time?
“I’ve never dared to freestyle in front of people. I thought I’d be shy, but the minute I went out there, I was flying. My freestyle journey starts from here.”

You’ve got the moves. So why doesn’t your freestyle feel like you?

You’ve got the moves. So why doesn’t your freestyle feel like you?

You’ve got the moves. So why doesn’t your freestyle feel like you?

Maybe you’ve taken the classes. Learned the steps. Drilled the foundations.

But when the music plays and it’s time to freestyle, something doesn’t connect.

  • You hesitate, feel a bit overwhelmed, and end up doing the same few moves.

  • What comes out looks more like your teacher than like you.

  • You’ve heard the concepts many times, but they’ve never really clicked in your body.

  • You’ve picked up pieces from different classes, but they don’t fit together yet.

  • Or you’re comfortable in a routine, but dancing freely in front of people feels like a different world.

If that sounds familiar, you’re not behind. And you’re not missing talent.

What’s missing isn’t more moves. It’s the bridge between knowing a move and owning it: understanding it in your mind, feeling it in your body, and connecting it to the music.

That bridge is what we build together, one Saturday a month.

The framework behind every Gathering.

The framework behind every Gathering.

Every Gathering focuses on one subject. We explore it through three angles, because that’s what it takes for something to become part of your dance, not just something you know.

Mindset
The right state of mind to get the most out of the subject. So much of what holds us back in freestyle isn’t physical. It’s how we approach it.

Movement
Understanding the subject in your body: how it works, how it feels, and how to adapt it so it looks and feels like you.

Music
Connecting the subject to the music, so it becomes part of your performance instead of a move you drop in.

When all three come together, a subject stops being something you practise and becomes something you dance.

Here’s what happens during a Gathering.

Here’s what happens during a Gathering.

1. Warm-up
Get your body and mind ready for the day’s subject.

2. The subject
One subject, explored through mindset, movement and music. Every exercise comes in levels:

  • Level 1: the introduction

  • Level 2: a step further

  • Level 3: for when the room is ready

You work at the level where you get the most out of it, so you’re challenged without feeling lost.

3. The Lab
Dancers share a question or something they’re working on, and we explore it together, live. Even when it’s someone else’s question, everyone in the room learns from it.

4. Closing cypher
No more exercises. Just the music, the circle and each other. It’s the moment to let everything you worked on settle into your dance.

Is the Gathering for you?

Is the Gathering for you?

Is the Gathering for you?

You’ll feel at home here if:

  • You’re starting your freestyle journey and want a supportive place to begin.

  • You’ve been dancing for years and want to go deeper into what you already know.

  • You train a different style and want more freedom in your freestyle.

  • You come from choreography and want to feel just as comfortable when there’s no routine.

  • You train for fun, but you still want to get good.

  • You want to understand the why behind a move, not just copy it.

Professional dancers and people training for fun share the same room. Everyone finds their level, and everyone leaves with something to work on.

It’s probably not for you if you’re looking to learn a routine. The Gathering is about building your own freestyle.

If you see yourself in any of these, there’s a spot for you at the next Gathering.

Founder of Beyond The Moves

Hey, I’m Nickel. I’ve been dancing for over 20 years, as a competitor, a judge, an event organiser and, above all, a teacher. I also dance with my crew, YUDAT.

When I started, I just wanted to put the music on and dance. My teachers were big on foundations, and I did the drills without really understanding why. I didn’t enjoy them.

Later, I realised I couldn’t skip them if I wanted to keep growing. So I made it my mission to make foundations and training enjoyable, practical and adaptable to your own style.

That’s what I’ve been sharing ever since. More than 2,000 dancers have joined BTM’s online trainings, and the Gathering is where it all comes together in person, once a month in London.

I’m not here to make you dance like me. I’m here to help you dance like you.

A community that keeps coming back.

A community that keeps coming back.

Every month, 30 to 40 dancers come together at the Gathering. Some have been coming every month for two years. Many first came because a friend brought them, and now they’re the ones bringing new people.

What keeps them coming back isn’t only what they learn. It’s the room: a supportive space where you’re free to try, explore and grow alongside people who want the same thing.

The BTM group chat
After your first Gathering, you’re invited to join the BTM group chat. It’s where we share news about upcoming Gatherings, and members usually get the early bird link before it goes public.
